Botulinum toxin is a cosmetic injection that blocks nerve signals that cause the muscles to contract. This effect relaxes the appearance of lines and wrinkles caused by repetitive movements on the face, especially between the eyebrows, around the eyes (chicken legs) and the horizontal wrinkles on the forehead.

This toxin is also used cosmetically to balance facial asymmetry, relax neck bands, as well as to reduce perspiration, migraine treatment and muscle spasticity.

Once the neurotoxin has been injected, it will take several days to achieve the effect. Therefore, a follow-up visit is usually scheduled 1 week after the initial injection. The effects of the toxin can last from four to six months depending on the age, skin condition and muscle tone of the patient.
